Breast Ultrasound uses sound waves to form computer generated pictures of the breast. Ultrasound is most often used in conjunction with mammography to answer specific imaging or clinical questions about the breast. This test has not been shown to be a useful screening test for women of average risk. Ultrasound is also used in image guided biopsy and other interventional procedures of the breast.
