November 8, 2012 marks the first annual International Day of Radiology (IDoR). On November 8, 1895, the X-Ray was discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, who was soon after called the Father of Radiology. IDoR is jointly sponsored by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), who host activities across the globe to celebrate the event. Together with 66 medical societies, the ACR, ESR and RSNA recognize International Day of Radiology in 38 countries!
